Tumbling Native Bouquet by Alicia Cornwell

ARTIST NOTES: Part of a series where I am exploring flowers (native and introduced) that are grown commercially in the area where I live in the Yarra Ranges. I am particularly interested in the organic flow and turn of these more harsh florals and the bright colours they produce. In this artwork the harshness and bright lines come together and juxtapose to a celebration of romance and love in a softer bridal bouquet that I created from these flowers.

ARTIST BIO

Alicia Cornwell (married name Geikowski) is an Australian Artist specialising in oil painting.

Alicia studied FINE ART at Caufield Institute of Technology graduating in 1985 with a major in Painting. She then completed a Graduate Diploma in Education at Victoria College Burwood in 1987.

Since this time she has been teaching Art and running her own business in Vintage for Interior Design - Time Worn Style - whilst bringing up her three beautiful daughters with her husband in Olinda Victoria.

In her studio on top of a mountain she explores her love for oil painting and the florals and beauty that surrounds her studio.

Her interest is in contemporary still life with original designs to embelish the home as part of a whole design. She is greatly interested in incorporating her love of vintage and florals into her designs and achieves her finished work with an eye for detail and a depth of glazes. Many days and hours are spent bringing her paintings to life.

"my paintings are of items that catch my eye, the beauty of natural and man made design, incorporating things of old and offset by the colour and light of nature that surrounds me in our mountain garden. Nothing makes me happier than exploring the colours of a flower with my paint brush, matching my antique and vintage collections together"
